New Year, New You! Tips to get on the right track this year

Happy New Year, Loves!

Who is ready to kick this year off the right way?!

I hope everyone had a wonderful time bringing in the New Year with family and friends but now I am sure you’re sitting at home (hungover AF) and hopefully reading this blog post wondering where I am about to go with this thing. haha. Well here’s the truth I thought it would be a great idea to start the New Year with a post all about how to conquer this New Year and get yourself on the right track right off the bat. I know it has been a long couple of months of eating copious amounts of holiday cookies, candy, cakes, thanksgiving dinners, you name it and I am guilty of ingesting it too. BUT you should not feel discouraged to start this year off on the right track just because of all the indulgences from 2018. So below I have listed a few of my favorite tips and tricks to get myself set up on the right track for a happy and healthy New Year.

Tip 1: Get yourself a pretty new planner. Ya know the one that has the big ole 2019 plastered across the front with witty and cliche quotes throughout it??? Haha okay maybe you don’t need that kind of planner, but at least find yourself one that you are actually going to enjoy writing in. I know that may sound silly but believe me something that is more appealing to you is going to be more useful too! I love a planner with lots of space so I can not only plan out my To-Do’s for the week like blog posts and things due for my day job, but I also use my planner to plan out my meals and workouts to help me stay consistent and on track.

And with that being said, that leads me in to tip numero dos…

Tip 2: Meal plan, meal plan and one more time for the people in the back… MEAL PLAN! I am sooo guilty of it too. If I do not have a schedule set for myself and meals already made or at least planned then you’re looking at the girl who is lazy AF and will eat out everyday. But when I hold myself accountable and actually plan my meals then believe it or not I will actually eat them haha and I wont regret all the extra crap I put into my body. Do not get me wrong I love eating out every now and again but it feels so good to have healthy delicious food ready for you and plus it save a lot of moola too!


Tip 3: Set up a workout regimen or get yourself on a schedule if you like going to the gym for the classes. Whatever it is to get your butt up and moving. Believe me I know it is hard, I really do get it. I work a full time job Mon-Fri which doesn’t end when I leave work. In my spare time I prepare blog posts, take photos and post photos for collaborations or my instagram, and then when all that’s done I start to plan out what my next blog post is going to be about. It is a lot of work but I really do enjoy it or else I would not being doing all of it but with that being said I have very little extra time to get in a workout. BUT I STILL DO! Even when it is literally the last thing I want to do after a long day at work, I still pick my head up and drag my butt to the gym straight after work because for me that is the best time for me to get my workout in. I know that I at least still have enough energy at that point in the day to get a workout in and if I get home and even just sit on the couch it is GAME OVER. So yes I know there are only a certain amount of hours in a day and yes I know it can be hard to find the time but if you set yourself for success then YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL! Okay I will stop screaming now. Haha

Tip 4: Set aside some self care time. It is so so soooo important to give yourself a “Me Day” and take care of yourself. I know above I mentioned a lot of different things that can be very time consuming and believe me I still stress myself out and forget to relax and have a day to myself. It is extremely important to keep this in mind especially with it being a new year. I know everyone has so many different things to do and I don’t even have children or a family to worry about yet (props to all you mama bears out there, I don’t know how you do it) but you still have to make some time for yourself. Wether you like to go get pampered and have a spa day, or if your thing is retail therapy, or maybe you just want to go sit by the ocean and relax. Any of those are perfect things to do for self care. Just remember that is YOUR TIME so put down the phone, turn off reality and just RELAX!


Tip 5 and my final tip: Budget baby budget. I need to really work on this tip for myself too. But with the new year approaching it is so important especially since I might be moving to my first big girl place since my college days. So my plan and tip for not only this blog post but for myself is to get a nice little budgeting book and start really making sure to budget the correct way so I can have money for my new home and my further self to enjoy too! Money can be a scary thing but if there is one thing I learned from my schooling is to not be scared of debt and spending money but to get yourself set up on track and know how much you’re going to need to put aside for bills, for yourself, and to save. There is plenty of research out there to help if you were anything like myself, who was like what actual crap am I doing when I got out of college and into the real world. Haha

I really hope these tips were helpful and even if they were things you knew to do that hopefully after reading them again it ignited you to really want top start this year off on the right track by trying out some of these things!
